According to techwatch.co.uk, “The Sci-Fi UK satellite channel has announced that it has acquired the first pay TV rights in the UK for the hit show “Warehouse 13” from NBC International Television Distribution.”
It struck me that Tech Watch has labeled the show a hit, but that I don’t actually know if that’s the case. I admit to having my head in the sand when it comes to shows I like. If I like it, why in the world wouldn’t everyone else?!
Since that’s not the way the real world works, I’ve decided to collect a few review quotes here so we can all see what other viewers are saying about the show now that two episodes have aired!
And of course, we’ll start off the list with me and Renee here are the Warehouse 13 Fan site.
Lynn (Warehouse 13 Fan) > Warehouse 13 off to a bang-up start > “I enjoyed it just as much as I thought I would, and that’s a compliment to the show because I had very high expectations…. I see lots of opportunity for future excitement and fun with these characters!”
Renee (Warehouse 13 Fan) > Hit or Miss…your take on the Warehouse 13 Pilot Episode > “My take is a definite hit. I believe there are a lot of people who will absolutely love this show. There’re so many elements at play that it will cross boundaries and ages. While I’m not sure how young is too young to watch the show, I’d say it’s definitely in the same age grouping as fans of Eureka.”
TV Overmind > Review: Warehouse 13 Pilot from Sci Fi > “The leads have some cute chemistry and easy banter. Overall, I’m interested in seeing how this plays out.”
Daemon’s TV > WAREHOUSE 13 “Resonance” Review > “I LOVE this show” and “This episode had everything I love about a good TV show. A solid story, interesting characters, witty dialogue and a very cool mystery.”
Pajiba > America’s Attic > “So is it worth watching? It definitely has potential. The actors are capable, the characters are well drawn, the show runners have a decent track record, and hints of interesting larger stories are dropped throughout the first two episodes. I think it’s worth watching this first ten episode season to see if it can grow into its potential…”
Hit Fix > TV Review, Warehouse 13 > “…ample potential…”
Screen Rant > Warehouse 13 Review Discussion > “…it’s good story telling and that’s a good thing. I don’t think I’m watching this show for the action scenes. Who ever choreographs the fighting or the editing of the fight scenes does not agree with my sense of flow as the physical altercations are more chop-edited than fluid. And for now, that’s the only real gripe I can come up with.”
New to TV > Warehouse 13 review: Quirky, but entertaining > “Overall, the show has potential. It’s not a replacement for The X Files, but it may be a quirky, lighter replacement. It will be interesting to see what they do with the artifacts inside the Warehouse 13 as well as seeing where they will go with their assignments into investigating the strange and unusual.”
THR Feed > Warehouse 13 Opens Strong for Syfy > “”Warehouse” drew 3.5 million viewers, the third-best premiere in the network-formerly-known-as-Sci Fi’s history, behind “Stargate: Atlantis” and “Eureka.” “Warehouse” was also the most-watched program on cable Tuesday night.”
Give Me My Remote > Warehouse 13 Resonance > “This show has heart, and I love it. Without being too heavy handed, it managed to weave an interesting case with a more in depth look at just what makes Pete and Myka tick (He plays the piano! She sings in the shower!).”
Give Me My Remote > Warehouse 13, An Invitation to Endless Wonder > “Well, did you enjoy our first ‘invitation to endless wonder’? I have to admit, I really loved WAREHOUSE 13’s premiere episodes. The show isn’t going to end world hunger or anything, but it was good. Very good, I thought.”
TV Verdict > Warehouse 13 Pilot > “As long as the cases get more interesting from week to week, Warehouse 13 will be an entertaining addition to the SyFy schedule.”
Washington Post > Warehouse 13 Pilot Review > “…if you stay with it, the mysteriousness of it all is kind of seductive, and the disparate strands of plot and subplots do eventually come together…”
USA Today > Warehouse 13 review > “With a few significant tweaks, Warehouse could become the kind of light diversion summer viewers crave.”
Philly.com > Ellen Gray: A ‘Warehouse’ of secrets on Syfy > “…the warehouse itself is packed to the rafters with…geeky fun.”
NJ.com > ‘Warehouse 13′ review – Sepinwall on TV > “The show’s still a work in progress. Kelly’s playing a little too close to the brittle career woman cliche, and the case the agents investigate in the premiere is both bland and a bit overcomplicated. (Episode two, a bank robbery story with a musical twist, is more promising.) But the world of the warehouse, and the interplay with the characters as they deal with it, are amusing enough to mark “Warehouse 13″ as a very promising summer series — regardless of the name of the channel it’s on.”
Salon.com > Mysteries and magic unfold on the renamed Syfy network, from the funny “Warehouse 13″ to the charming “Eureka” > “Of course, if “Warehouse 13″ tried to tout itself as a sophisticated drama like “Fringe” or “Battlestar Galactica,” it would fail miserably. You can’t offer up an enormous storage space filled with old paintings and chalices and crystal balls and not make the mood a little goofy and retro. Luckily, everything, from the old-timey, staticky intercom device the agents use to communicate with Artie to the enormous, rusty warehouse itself (Is there anything more outdated than the warehouse, in this age of digital bartering?), offers little nudges and winks that we’re not supposed to take these adventures too seriously; rather, we should enjoy them as sweet and light and faintly nostalgic, like a spirited mix of “The X-Files” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.””
Hollywood Reporter > Warehouse 13 TV review > “A goofy setup, to be sure, but an entertaining and lively one…. For now, “Warehouse” shows promise. Here’s hoping those bright shiny objects get dusted off and used or explored, and that just around the corner lies the real wonder in this series.”
Metacritic.com has a nice collection of review links so you can read reviews by the larger online news organizations. Frankly, I don’t usually agree with most of them about tv, but it’s interesting to read what they say.

I started watching from the beginning and fell for the show, glad to see it has been picked up looking forward to summer 2010. The quirkiness of the characters are a perfect fit, adding Claudia just made it better….

I agree. I like Claudia. A really good show always has really good secondary characters. Warehouse 13 has plenty of people to work with in future episodes. The only downside is that I heard there were only going to be 13 episodes to season 2 in the summer. I’m still waiting to hear more about that…
